New dangerous good requirements

The Alexandria Port Authority has issued a letter to all agents to notify ship owners, operators, Masters, shippers of FCL and LCL containers that as from 1 March 2005, the port will not accept any dangerous cargo not physically identified by a special label in accordance with the IMDG Code.

Such labels should include the following data:

1.  Scientific name (formula).
2.  Commercial name.
3.  Chemical component.
4.  Classification of cargo.
5.  IMDG class.
6.  Fire fighting procedures.
7.  Emergency procedures.
8.  Safety procedures.

This procedure is mandatory for all cargo arriving on and after 1 March 2005.
