Dubai - New requirements to Control Hydrocarbon Emissions

From 22 September 2003, tanker berth users/charterers in Dubai must ensure that they do not cause air pollution by controlling their hydrocarbon emissions. Cargo tanks need to be purged with fresh inert gas before arrival at Dubai ports so that the maximum hydrocarbon content is 2% or less. Pump rooms also need to be ventilated well in advance of arrival to expel cargo vapours.
