The Customs Code and Indirect Tax Regulations provide the vessel must within 24 hours of arrival provide a written declaration of the ship's provisions on board and personal possessions of crew.
Failure to report may result in the following :
a) Undeclared goods being confiscated.
b) Imprisonment for up to one year
c) Fine equivalent of 5 times the value of undeclared goods.
It has been reported that a failure to report a number of cases of beer on board has resulted in a fine of US$2,500.
