Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act

This Act provides for compulsory pilotage and increased fines to protect this exclusive marine environment.

Ships over 70 m in length, vessels carrying oil, gas or chemicals must carry a pilot on board along routes of Hydrographers Passage, Cape York, Cairns and Whitsunday Islands.
