Heavy rain warning

Members are advised that heavy rains have been reported to have affected parts of the U.A.E., published along side this advisory are our Correspondent's news bulletin, local news reporting as well as a weather report.

Effects of this severe weather have included the possible reduction or cessation of offshore activities.

A particular concern is the effect these rains may have on cargoes stored in the open at ports and nearby storage facilities.

Members presently discharging in the U.A.E or preparing to lift a cargo there should be aware of the severe weather and take appropriate steps, including ensuring that vessels pay attention to local weather reports carefully and if necessary take prudent action in relation to planned or on going cargo operations.

Should weather affect cargo operations then this should be properly recorded in the vessel's logs, and if cargo may be affected then a photographic record should be made. In case of concern, Masters should not hesitate to contact local Correspondents for further assistance.

If Vessels are due to lift cargo in the near future, particular attention should be paid to the state of the cargo and whether it may be affected by water before proceeding to load. Again, in case of concern, local Correspondents should be contacted for assistance.

In case Members have any queries, they are asked to contact the Association: lossprevention@skuld.com
