Fireworks restrictions

Vessels carrying cargoes of fireworks into Rotterdam are subjected to limits of 1000 kilos IMCO 1.4S (UN number 0337) and /or 500 kilos IMCO 1.4/1.4G (UN number 0336). There have been reports by the Dutch authorities that shippers have been under-declaring the amount without the knowledge of the masters of the vessels.

Vessels found to have exceeded the limit are not allowed entry into the port of Rotterdam. The master is held responsible and will be subjected to an approx. fine of 10,000 Euros to 45,000 Euros or imprisonment of 1 or 6 years depending on whether the breach of rules was unintentional or intentional.
