Ships calling at Nigerian ports are being asked to produce seaman’s books for all crew members and failure to do so will result in a fine or detention.
However some flag states such as Bahamas or Isle of Man do not require their crews to be issued with seaman’s books. In such cases there should be available documentary evidence from the flag State that seaman’s books are not required.
