In the general shipping practice, once the P&I cases incur, the members are likely to seek for supports from the clubs like enquiry, local correspondents’ assistance or other legal advices. Recently, we have received enquiry whether the “costs and expenses” incurred in this process would be subject to applicable deductible or covered by the club regardless the claim amount. As the result, we have conducted a research from the IG Group and summarizing their advices as follow:<\/p>\n

To sum up, when ascertaining the requirement of “costs and expenses” payment, it is important for a member to review prudently the terms of entry and the relevant clauses in the club’s rule book. It is better to clarify at the time of placing rather than later. The aforesaid IG Clubs’ general practices are only for your kind reference, and thus it should be noted that these practices could not be regarded as the rules which will be changed in particular cases.<\/p>\n
