Galle (Embark Guards and Firearms) – West Indian Port (Guards and Firearms stay on board to be sealed and declared to Port Authorities in advance) – Muscat (Disembark Guards and Firearms)<\/p>\n

    Some factors when choosing armed Guard Firm:-<\/p>\n

    1. Take up references<\/li>\n
    2. Check the references<\/li>\n
    3. See if you can check out the company informally with people you know (no white\/ blacklists)<\/li>\n
    4. Place of registration & business \u2013 an indication of how serious the company is<\/li>\n
    5. Background and experience of company- for example a background in Iraq may not be so useful on a ship.<\/li>\n
    6. How long in business<\/li>\n
    7. Size of organisation<\/li>\n
    8. Are they members of Industry organisations such as BAPSC (British Association of Private Security Companies)<\/li>\n
    9. Are they willing to accept IOCC- International Code of Conduct for Private Security Companies?<\/li>\n
    10. Do they have an ability to provide unarmed guards, crew training and other assistance \u2013 if so this may suggest an awareness of broader aspects of security rather than just providing hired guns?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
