There were several reports on the container explosion on carriage due to Calcium Carbide. We would like to draw your attention when carriage of Calcium Carbide especially via container.<\/p>\n

According to the comment on the inspection by marine surveyors, the explosion was likely caused by a spark from the steel and improper stowage in many of the containers.
The stowage problems noted below are likely to have contributed to the incident.<\/p>\n

Several vertical securing bands on drum pallets were found to be loose.
A 6″-7″ horizontal void space between the wood bracings and drums was found in each container, nothing was preventing the longitudinal movement of the drums or pallets.
Lumber for blocking and bracing should be a minimum size of 2″x6″. In addition a solid plywood bulkhead would be required on the inner side of the blocking and bracing with appropriate cut-outs to view the attached hazardous labels on the drums.
A plywood layer separator (minimum 1\/2″ thickness) is recommended between the 1st and 2nd tier.
Substantial condensation was noted on the roof and side panels of some containers. Testing of the wood pallets and lumber used for blocking and bracing found the wood to have elevated moisture contents of between 16% and 28%. This moisture is a concern because Calcium Carbide Class 4.3 is reactive with water.
Some of drum lid mechanical clamps were found to be partially dislodged.<\/p>\n

We suggest our Clients to be cautious and carefully to handle on Calcium Carbide product. If clients are in any doubt, please contact us or the relevant P&I Clubs for advice.<\/p>\n

\u8fd1\u671f,\u6709\u6570\u8d77\u96c6\u88c5\u7bb1\u4e8e\u8fd0\u8f7d\u8fc7\u7a0b\u4e2d\u53d1\u751f\u7206\u70b8\u7684\u4e8b\u6545\u62a5\u544a,\u8fd9\u4e9b\u4e8b\u6545\u5747\u4e0e\u78b3\u5316\u9499\u6709\u5173\u3002\u656c\u8bf7\u8d35\u53f8\u6ce8\u610f\u6709\u5173\u78b3\u5316\u9499,\u7279\u5225\u662f\u5f53\u4ee5\u96c6\u88c5\u7bb1\u5f62\u5f0f\u65f6\u4e4b\u8fd0\u8f7d\u3002<\/p>\n

\u6839\u636e\u822a\u8fd0\u9a8c\u8d27\u5e08\u68c0\u9a8c\u540e\u7684\u610f\u89c1\uff0c\u7206\u70b8\u53ef\u80fd\u662f\u94a2\u8d28\u6876\u5728\u8fd0\u8f93\u8fc7\u7a0b\u4e2d\u6447\u6446\u4ea7\u751f\u706b\u82b1\u53ca\u96c6\u88c5\u7bb1\u79ef\u8f7d\u4e0d\u6070\u5f53\u6240\u5bfc\u81f4\u3002 \u4e0b\u9762\u5217\u51fa\u7684\u79ef\u8f7d\u95ee\u9898\u53ef\u80fd\u5c31\u662f\u5bfc\u81f4\u4e8b\u6545\u53d1\u751f\u7684\u539f\u56e0\uff1a<\/p>\n

\u53d1\u73b0\u5706\u6876\u886c\u57ab\u4e0a\u7684\u5782\u76f4\u56fa\u5b9a\u5e26\u677e\u5f00\u4e86\u3002
\u5728\u6bcf\u4e2a\u96c6\u88c5\u7bb1\u90fd\u53d1\u73b0\u6728\u652f\u67f1\u548c\u5706\u6876\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684A6″-7″\u6a2a\u5411\u7a7a\u95f4\uff0c\u6ca1\u6709\u4efb\u4f55\u9632\u6b62\u5706\u6876\u6216\u886c\u57ab\u7eb5\u5411\u79fb\u52a8\u7684\u8bbe\u65bd\u3002
\u963b\u9694\u548c\u652f\u67f1\u7684\u6728\u6750\u6700\u5c0f\u89c4\u683c\u5e94\u4e3a2″x6″\u3002\u53e6\u5916\uff0c\u963b\u9694\u548c\u652f\u67f1\u5185\u4fa7\u9700\u8981\u6709\u575a\u56fa\u7684\u5939\u677f\u8231\u58c1\uff0c\u7559\u7a7a\u9002\u5f53\u7684\u4f4d\u7f6e\u67e5\u770b\u8d34\u5728\u5706\u6876\u4e0a\u7684\u5371\u9669\u6807\u7b7e\u3002
\u5efa\u8bae\u5728\u7b2c\u4e00\u548c\u7b2c\u4e8c\u6392\u4e4b\u95f4\u4f7f\u7528\u5939\u677f\u5c42\u6765\u5206\u9694\uff08\u539a\u5ea6\u6700\u5c11\u662f1\/2\u201d\uff09\u3002
\u90e8\u5206\u96c6\u88c5\u7bb1\u9876\u90e8\u548c\u4fa7\u9762\u677f\u4e0a\u53d1\u73b0\u4e86\u5927\u91cf\u6c34\u51dd\u7ed3\u73b0\u8c61\u3002\u7ecf\u8fc7\u5bf9\u963b\u9694\u548c\u652f\u67f1\u4f7f\u7528\u7684\u886c\u57ab\u548c\u6728\u6750\u8fdb\u884c\u6d4b\u8bd5\uff0c\u53d1\u73b0\u6728\u6750\u542b\u6c34\u91cf\u8fbe16%-28%\u3002\u7531\u4e8e\u78b3\u5316\u9499\u7c7b\u522b4.3\u5bf9\u6c34\u6613\u8d77\u53cd\u5e94\uff0c\u5927\u5bb6\u5e94\u5173\u6ce8\u6c34\u5206\u542b\u91cf\u8fd9\u4e00\u70b9\u3002
