After having loaded a cargo of drilling mud, the ship headed north towards a port in the Northern Atlantic. The Master and Chief Officer performed the bridge watch in accordance with a 6\/6 shift, which was standard form of watchkeeping on this ship. The scheme was in accordance with the provisions on hours of work and rest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On her voyage towards the port of discharge, the ship made a deviation and stopped in a small port due to problems with the ship\u2019s primary ECDIS, which was used for navigation and route planning. The ECDIS consisted of two independent units. One of which was a primary ECDIS, the other one was a secondary ECDIS to which a switch should be made in case of malfunction of the primary ECDIS.
