A couple of years after the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Panama Canal, the country prepares for the opening of the long awaited expanded Canal on 26 June 2016. This event will mark the conclusion of nine years of engineering works at costs in the region of USD 5.25 billion, although the actual cost figure will perhaps never be known.<\/p>\n

The expanded Panama Canal intends to double the capacity of the existing waterway by adding a third set of locks, giving way to ships that can carry over twice as much cargo. Two new sets of locks have been built, one on the Atlantic and one on the Pacific side. As part of the construction works, the existing water channels have been widened and deepened, and the water of the Gatun Lake has been raised to the maximum operating level.<\/p>\n

\u5728\u5df4\u62ff\u9a6c\u8fd0\u6cb3\u767e\u5e74\u5e86\u5178\u76842\u5e74\u540e\uff0c2016\u5e746\u670826\u65e5\uff0c\u5df4\u62ff\u9a6c\u6b63\u5728\u7b79\u5907\u7fd8\u9996\u4ee5\u5f85\u7684\u8fd0\u6cb3\u6269\u5efa\u540e\u7684\u518d\u6b21\u901a\u822a\u3002\u8fd9\u6807\u5fd7\u7740\u5386\u65f69\u5e74\uff0c\u8017\u8d44\u7ea652.5\u4ebf\u7f8e\u5143\u7684\u8fd0\u6cb3\u6269\u5efa\u5de5\u7a0b\u7ae3\u5de5\uff0c\u5c3d\u7ba1\u5b9e\u9645\u6570\u5b57\u4e0d\u4e3a\u4eba\u77e5\u3002<\/p>\n

\u6269\u5efa\u540e\u7684\u5df4\u62ff\u9a6c\u8fd0\u6cb3\uff0c\u4ee5\u671f\u901a\u8fc7\u589e\u52a0\u7b2c\u4e09\u5957\u8239\u95f8\uff0c\u4f7f\u822a\u9053\u7684\u901a\u822a\u80fd\u529b\u53ca\u8239\u8236\u8d27\u7269\u88c5\u8f7d\u91cf\u7ffb\u500d\u3002\u5728\u5df4\u62ff\u9a6c\u8fd0\u6cb3\u592a\u5e73\u6d0b\u548c\u5927\u897f\u6d0b\u4e24\u7aef\u65b0\u5efa2\u5957\u8239\u95f8\u3002\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u62d3\u5bbd\u52a0\u6df1\u73b0\u6709\u822a\u9053\uff0c\u52a0\u901a\u6e56\u6c34\u4f4d\u5df2\u4e0a\u5347\u5230\u6700\u5927\u5de5\u4f5c\u6c34\u4f4d\u3002<\/p>\n
