Although many marine protected areas (MPAs) have been designated within countries&#8217; EEZs, only about 1% of the high seas has currently been designated as MPAs or Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems (VMEs). The lack of protection over these areas of water has led to overfishing and pollution, the two foremost causes identified for the extinction or near extinction of 10% of marine species in our oceans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; text-align: justify;\">Last week, on 4 March 2023 in New York, after nearly two decades of talk, 190 UN member states finally reached agreement on the text of the UN&#8217;s High Seas Treaty. This treaty will put 30% of the high seas into MPAs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; text-align: justify;\">Please see attached file for details.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"color: #003366; font-size: 18.6667px;\">\u8054\u5408\u56fd\u300a\u516c\u6d77\u6761\u7ea6\u300b<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u4e16\u754c\u4e0a\u6709\u4e09\u5206\u4e4b\u4e8c\u7684\u6d77\u6d0b\u5728\u6cbf\u6d77\u56fd\u5bb6\u4e13\u5c5e\u7ecf\u6d4e\u533a\uff08EEZ\uff09200\u6d77\u91cc\u4e4b\u5916\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e9b\u6d77\u57df\u88ab\u79f0\u4e3a\u56fd\u9645\u6c34\u57df\u6216\u201c\u516c\u6d77\u201d\u3002\u5c3d\u7ba1\u8bb8\u591a\u201c\u6d77\u6d0b\u4fdd\u62a4\u533a\uff08MPA\uff09\u201d\u5df2\u88ab\u6307\u5b9a\u5728\u5404\u56fd\u7684\u4e13\u5c5e\u7ecf\u6d4e\u533a\u5185\uff0c\u4f46\u76ee\u524d\u516c\u6d77\u53ea\u6709\u7ea61%\u7684\u533a\u57df\u88ab\u6307\u5b9a\u4e3a\u201c\u6d77\u6d0b\u4fdd\u62a4\u533a\uff08MPA\uff09\u201d\u6216\u201c\u8106\u5f31\u6d77\u6d0b\u751f\u6001\u7cfb\u7edf\uff08VMEs\uff09\u201d\u3002\u8fd9\u4e9b\u6c34\u57df\u7f3a\u4e4f\u4fdd\u62a4\u8fdb\u800c\u53d1\u751f\u8fc7\u5ea6\u6355\u635e\u548c\u6c61\u67d3\uff0c\u8fd9\u662f\u5bfc\u81f4\u6d77\u6d0b\u4e2d10%\u7684\u6d77\u6d0b\u7269\u79cd\u706d\u7edd\u6216\u6fd2\u4e34\u706d\u7edd\u7684\u4e24\u4e2a\u4e3b\u8981\u539f\u56e0\u3002<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u7ecf\u8fc7\u8fd120\u5e74\u7684\u8ba8\u8bba\u540e\uff0c2023\u5e743\u67084\u65e5\uff0c190\u4e2a\u8054\u5408\u56fd\u4f1a\u5458\u56fd\u7ec8\u4e8e\u5728\u7ebd\u7ea6\u5c31\u300a\u516c\u6d77\u6761\u7ea6\u300b(High Seas Treaty) \u7684\u5185\u5bb9\u8fbe\u6210\u4e86\u534f\u8bae\uff0c\u8be5\u6761\u7ea6\u5c06\u628a30%\u7684\u516c\u6d77\u7eb3\u5165\u201c\u6d77\u6d0b\u4fdd\u62a4\u533a\uff08MPA\uff09\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u8be6\u7ec6\u4fe1\u606f\u8bf7\u53c2\u9605\u9644\u4ef6\u3002<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;ENG&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;CHN Two-thirds of the world&#8217;s oceans lying beyond 200 nautical miles from the exclusive economic zones (&#8220;EEZ&#8221;) of coastal countries are referred to as international waters or the &#8216;high seas&#8217;.
