It is noted that some ships are still supplied with belt type harnesses which can lead to severe damage to internal organs and also spinal damage or death if the wearer falls from any height.<\/p>\n

Some other vessels have the correct ‘5 point’ safety harnesses onboard but they are not fitted with ‘fall arrest’ devices on the safety lines. This can result in serious injury should the wearer fall onto the safety line. Fall arresters act as ‘shock absorbers’ and will slow the fall gradually over a short distance rather than instantaneously.<\/p>\n

The ISM Code<\/em> section 1.2.2.2 requires that: “the Company should….assess all identified risks to its and establish appropriate safeguards…” The Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen<\/em> states in chapter 4: “It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that workers are provided with suitable personal protective equipment where it is needed… as a general rule, personal protective equipment should be supplied at no cost to the worker.”personnel<\/p>\n

Therefore, the employer can be held liable for a serious injury result from the use of the wrong type of safety harness. The Club strongly advises that the correct types of safety harnesses, including fall arrest equipment, should be supplied to all vessels. The webbing and lanyard should be inspected regularly for cuts, abrasions, degradation, damage to stitching\/splicing (which can significantly reduce the strength of the harness), partially deployed fall arrester etc. Equipment with defects or which has already been used to arrest a fall should be renewed.<\/p>\n

Where work is to be carried out over the side of the vessel it would also be prudent to provide a securing arrangement that allows proper freedom of movement for personnel without the safety line having to be disconnected during work.<\/p>\n

\u53e6\u5916\u90e8\u5206\u8239\u8236\u5728\u8239\u4e0a\u914d\u6709\u4e94\u70b9\u5f0f\u5b89\u5168\u5e26\uff0c\u4f46\u5e76\u672a\u5728\u5b89\u5168\u7d22\u4e0a\u5b89\u88c5\u9632\u5760\u5668\u3002\u5982\u679c\u4f69\u5e26\u4e94\u70b9\u5f0f\u5b89\u5168\u5e26\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u4eba\u5458\u53d1\u751f\u5760\u843d\uff0c\u5728\u6ca1\u6709\u5b89\u88c5\u9632\u5760\u5668\u7684\u60c5\u51b5\u4e0b\uff0c\u8be5\u5de5\u4f5c\u4eba\u5458\u5f88\u53ef\u80fd\u4f1a\u53d7\u91cd\u4f24\u3002\u9632\u5760\u5668\u7684\u4f5c\u7528\u76f8\u5f53\u4e8e”\u7f13\u51b2\u5668”\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u5728\u77ed\u8ddd\u79bb\u5185\u9010\u6e10\u51cf\u7f13\u4e0b\u5760\u901f\u5ea6\uff0c\u4f46\u4e0d\u80fd\u77ac\u95f4\u51cf\u7f13\u5760\u843d\u901f\u5ea6\u3002<\/p>\n

\u6839\u636e\u300a\u5546\u8239\u6d77\u5458\u5b89\u5168\u5de5\u4f5c\u89c4\u5219\u300b\u7b2c4\u7ae0\u89c4\u5b9a\uff1a”\u96c7\u4e3b\u6709\u8d23\u4efb\u786e\u4fdd\u5728\u6709\u9700\u8981\u65f6\u4e3a\u5de5\u4f5c\u4eba\u5458\u63d0\u4f9b\u5408\u9002\u7684\u4e2a\u4eba\u4fdd\u62a4\u88c5\u5907….\u4e00\u822c\u60c5\u51b5\u4e0b\uff0c\u96c7\u4e3b\u5e94\u514d\u8d39\u5411\u5de5\u4f5c\u4eba\u5458\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e2a\u4eba\u4fdd\u62a4\u88c5\u5907”\u3002<\/p>\n

\u636e\u6b64\uff0c\u5982\u56e0\u4f7f\u7528\u9519\u8bef\u5b89\u5168\u5e26\u800c\u5bfc\u81f4\u5de5\u4f5c\u4eba\u5458\u53d7\u5230\u4e25\u91cd\u4f24\u5bb3\u7684\uff0c\u96c7\u4e3b\u5c06\u5bf9\u6b64\u627f\u62c5\u8d23\u4efb\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\u534f\u4f1a\u5f3a\u70c8\u5efa\u8bae\u6240\u6709\u8239\u8236\u914d\u5907\u6b63\u786e\u7684\u5b89\u5168\u5e26\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u9632\u5760\u5668\u5728\u5185\u3002<\/p>\n
