The Houthi rebels from Yemen have escalated the attacked on commercial vessels transiting the Red Sea in response to the situation, arising due to organisation Hamas’ attacks on Israeli civilians and then the counter response of Israel for such attacks in Gaza. As a result, the UK and US forces launched air strikes on the Houthi rebels from 12 January 2024, which was later joined by the UK forces to ensure Freedom of Navigation in Red Sea.

由于哈马斯组织对以色列平民发动袭击，以色列随即做出反击，对加沙发起了攻击，从而引发了也门的胡塞武装进一步升级了针对途经红海的商船的袭击活动。为此，自2024年1月12日起，英、美两军对胡塞武装发起了联合空袭行动，以确保红海的航道自由。
