一艘4,000总吨左右的半载集装箱船,从克里斯蒂安桑(Kristiansand)驶往不来梅港(Bremerhaven), 吃水5米。航程中有一段是从东南方向穿越丹麦海域的狭窄航道,该航道设有浮标。同时,一艘吃水9米,60,000总吨的油轮也计划从该航道通过。油轮压载航行,正从挪威返航德国。该船计划从西北方向穿越同一航道。两船将几乎同时以相反的方向通过航道。航道水深约为12米。两船预计在白天能见度良好的情况下通过航道。

根据国际海事组织的建议,11米或以上吃水船舶在按计划航线进入波罗的海时,才需要安排引水,虽然并非必须,但该油轮有两名引水在驾驶台。同时,值班驾驶员、作为舵手的一水和了望员也在驾驶台上。船舶由人工驾驶。

Case study no. 33: Single watchkeepingA partly-laden container ship of around 4,000 GT is en route from Kristiansand to Bremerhaven with a draught of 5 metres. A part of her passage is southeast through a narrow buoyed channel in Danish waters. The channel is also on the passage plan of a 60,000 GT tanker with a draught of 9 metres. She is in ballast condition and is on her way from Germany to Norway. Her intention is to pass through the same channel northwest-bound. The two vessels will transit the channel in opposite directions at about the same time. The depth outside the channel is around 12 metres. The passages are to take place during daylight with good visibility.

Two pilots are on the bridge of the tanker, as per IMO recommendation regarding the use of pilots on ships with a draught of 11 metres or more when following established routes into the Baltic Sea, although there is no obligation to do so. An OOW, an AB as helmsman and a look-out are also on the bridge. The vessel is on manual steering.
