尽管《最佳管理措施》(BMP4)特别针对索马里海盗，但是船东可以参考其中相关的海盗信息和建议。
目前，波罗的海国际航运公会(BIMCO)正在修改GUARDCON格式以适应几内亚湾的特殊情况。BIMCO预计新版本将于2013年5月底出台。
同时，BIMCO发布了《船东、经营人和船长防范几内亚湾地区海盗临时指南》，可以结合BMP4一并阅读。

Practical guidance
Shipowners should refer to the BMP4 which, although specific to the Somali based piracy, gives relevant information and recommendations about piracy.
BIMCO is currently working on an amended form of GUARDCON to fit the specificity of the Guinea Gulf. BIMCO estimates that the new version will be published at the end of May 2013.
In the meantime, BIMCO published “Interim Guidelines for Owners, Operators and Masters for protection against piracy in the Gulf of Guinea region”, to be read in conjunction with BMP4.
