Piracy Series (III)
In view of increasing number of piracy attacks in areas which have no navy patrols, it is getting more difficult to avoid the piracy by adjusting their routing or changing their trading route. While shipowners could take the preventive measurement such as installation of razor wire, it is also important for the owner to arrange the financial losses arising from this risk to be indemnified by suitable insurances, which are Kidnap & Ransom Insurance (K&R) and Piracy Loss of Hire Insurance (Piracy LOH).
