The New Annex of International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973 (MARPOL) Coming in Force 

We would like to draw your attention that the new amendments, Annex VI, of International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973 (MARPOL) concerning the prevention of air pollution from ships will come into force on 1st July 2010.

This new amendments, adopted through the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), stipulate that the sulphur content of any fuel used in the Baltic and North Sea Emission Control Areas (ECA’s) shall not exceed 1.00%. These amendments are the latest in a line of reductions with the next reduction to 0.1% set for 2015.

We do suggest all our Members confirm that the vessel have sufficient and qualified fuel available if the vessel planning to voyage in Baltic and North Sea areas. Please also suggest that your crew shall be fully trained and familiar with all relevant change-over procedures.

《1973 年国际防止船舶造成污染公约》新修订將生效

我们提醒各位会员注意，《1973年国际防止船舶造成污染公约》(“公约”)附件六关于防止船舶空气污染的修订将会在2010 年7月1日生效。

是次对公约修订得到了海上环境保护委员会(MEPC)的认可与通过，新修订的公约规定了在波罗的海及北海地区内的燃料硫磺排放含量，而其中规定了区内使用的燃料硫磺排放含量不得超过1.00%。是次修订是降低硫磺排放含量的最新规定，而该修订并预定於2015年将硫磺含量排放含量降至0.1%。

我们建议客户确认船舶如航经波罗的海及北海地区时，准备充足及合乎规格的的燃料。我们并且建议船员也应接受充分的培训，熟悉所有发生变化的相关程序。
