The revised Canadian AGM Policy became effective on Mar 18,2011.The major change of this policy is including China and Korea as part of regulated areas plus enforcement action ( monetary penalty-CAD $10,000).
If vessel arrive without Phytosanitary Certificate to certify that vessel is free from AGM at her last port of call in a regulated area, she can have AGM inspection by Canadian authority at remote anchorage (constance bank) and will incur extra expenses including monetary penalty etc for approximate CAD $ 15,000 plus off hire delay.
Our AGM season commenced on Mar 1,2012. By end of March, over 30 ships were considered as non-compliant vessel and request AGM inspection at constance bank anchorage.
Please note our AGM season will last until October 15, 2012 , and pay extra attention on this new policy and to avoid ship’s delay and extra expenses due to non-compliance of AGM regulations.
