Sierra Leone is still recovering from the effects of civil war, but two shippers have resumed exports of iron ore, some of which are Group A (capable of liquefying) under the IMSBC Code.
Circular 2: Loading coal in Indonesia: current situation confronting Masters and Owners (From LONDST)
There continue to be fire incidents involving Indonesian ‘steam’ or non-coking coal throughout the supply chain, as well as dangerous levels of flammable gas in cargo holds. Continued vigilance is required to manage this cargo and ensure its safe carriage.
Circular 3: Maintenance of wires and their records (From LONDST)
The London P&I Club’s Inspection Programme has recently highlighted several instances of negative findings regarding the ship’s lifting equipment register.
Circular 4: Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm Systems (BNWAS) (From LONDST)
Members will be aware that the SOLAS requirement for the installation of BNWAS applies to all ships constructed on or after 1 July 2011, and is being progressively phased in for passenger and cargo ships constructed before that date from 1 July 2012.
Circular 5: Maintenance of Cargo Hold Pipework (From LONDST)
The Club regularly receives notifications of incidents or claims involving wet damage to cargo caused by holds flooding. Leakage from pipework within holds continues to be a common cause of cargo wetting.

通函一:装运来自塞拉利昂的铁矿砂所面临的困难(From LONDST)
尽管塞拉利昂仍处于内战后的恢复期,但已有两家企业分别作为托运人重启了该地区的铁矿砂货物出口运输业务。这其中的某些铁矿砂属于《IMSBC规则》规定的A类货物,即这类货物在运输过程中极有可能液化。

近来,关于产自印度尼西亚的动力煤或非炼焦煤在运输过程中发生火灾;或者因货物释放的易燃气体在船舱内自然聚集到危险水平,而导致事故的事件时有发生。因此,协会成员要时刻保持警惕,加强对于此类货物的安全运输管理。
通函三:钢丝绳的保养维护及相关文件记录归档(From LONDST)
近期以来,协会登轮检验人员通过例行船舶勘验计划,多次发现并强调指出:某些船舶的起货设备缺乏必要的保养、维护,相关文件记录也未及时更新。
通函四:驾驶台航行值班报警系统(BNWAS) (From LONDST)
协会会员应知悉,《SOLAS公约》要求自2012年7月1日起,所有新造船都必须安装”驾驶台航行值班报警系统” (以下简称BNWAS);而对2012年7月1日前建造的客船和货轮,该计划也在逐步分阶段实施。
通函五:货舱管系的日常维护(From LONDST)
长期以来,协会会定期收到因载货船舶货舱进水,而导致货物湿损的事故报告或索赔通知。货舱内管系的泄漏一直是造成货物湿损的常见原因。
