The report shows that whilst piracy incident numbers are down compared 2016, there are concerns over the number of attacks in the Gulf of Guinea and South East Asia.
It also shows an increased number of attacks off the coast of Venezuela and recent attempted boarding’s off the coast of Libya, reinforcing the need for Masters and CSOs to conduct a thorough voyage risk assessment when operating in all high risk areas.
