Ports of Fujairah sounds warning on single Hulls

UAE loading port Fujairah has warned single-hull tankers to stay away once they have reached their phase-out dates under the Marpol conventions.

The person in charge of Fujairah port said once tankers that will reach the phase-out dates under Marpol 73/78would not be able to conduct cargo operation at the port’s oil terminal.

Any single-huller over 15 years old must have condition assessment scheme certification from its class society and also approval to trade from its flag state if they wish to trade to the port. However, single-hullers could still conduct cargo and other service operations at the port’s anchorage but they must be ballast.

Attack 2,574 kilometers out

The 28,400 dwt Nord Sincere (built 2010) was attacked by a number of skiffs at an incredible 2,574 kilometers east of Somalia.

Congestion Persists
