The pirates hit tanker Brussels at 23:00 local time on 29th April when the tanker was sailing from Port Harcourt to Lagos. Seventeen crew members and two armed guards were on board the tanker when the pirates struck. The crew retreated to the citadel but two were unable to reach the safe room. One seafarer and two pirates killed during the pirate attack on tanker Brussels, with another seafarer slightly injured.
