To improve the safety of navigation in Singapore waters, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has released a marine circular highlighting some recent important changes affecting vessels arriving at Singapore or transiting the Singapore and Malacca Straits.
As per the circular, the Eastern pilot boarding ground has been split into two separate pilot boarding areas, to be used depending on vessels arriving from the East or the West of Singapore.
There are also changes to the pilot scheduling system in which the vessels will be scheduled to pick up pilots at 15 minute intervals and all vessels are being advised to maintain 1 mile distance between each other while approaching the pilot station.
