This is an updated circular to replace the previous Circular 06/02 of March 20, 2002 entitled “The Carriage of Steel Cargoes: Loading and Discharge Surveys”, which the Club made extensive recommendations in regard to the conduct of precautionary surveys of certain steel cargoes to minimize the prospect of spurious steel cargo claims.
The reason for such update because cases have been found where precautionary steel surveys at load ports were not performed. This has resulted in several significant cargo exposures. The Club has revisited and updated the advice as below concerning the handling of steel cargoes in order to reaffirm best practice going forward.

这则更新通函取代协会在2002年3月20日所发布的通函06/02，题目为“钢材货物的运输：装卸检验”，协会广泛提出了有关对钢材货物的预防检验建议，从而减少预期的钢材货物索赔案子。
由于协会发现很多会员并没有在装港进行这种预防检验而导致若干钢材货物风险暴露，因此协会发出这则更新通函。协会已重新审查并更新了有关于处理钢材货物的建议，以重申现行的最佳做法。
