It is reported that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) intends to close 23 of the country’s 41 nickel ore mines. The 5 mines where operations have been suspended by the DNER.
Members with vessels loading nickel ore in the Philippines should first ensure they are not loading from any of the listed mines as they may face allegations of “mineral theft”, leading to complications and subsequent delays.
