Revised Guidelines for Oil Tankers - India

All Indian and foreign flagged oil tanker will be required to comply with certain criteria before being allowed entry into India's ports as from 1st April 2004. Tankers with segregated ballast tanks in protected locations must be under 25 years and those oil tankers above 20 years must have at least CAP-2 rating for hull, machinery and cargo equipment. The tankers must be classed with either The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) or The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
