New civil code

The time-limit for presenting cargo claims has now been changed from one to three years from the date of discharge. This change has been due to a new Civil Code as of effect from 12th January 2003 which also allows the time limit to be extended once. For personal injury claims, the time bar has been changed from twenty years to ten years.
