The situation
Members will be aware of an on-going situation involving a conflict in the Gaza area, which has seen rockets fired that have landed in other areas of Israel.

In particular the Port of Ashkelon is only 10 km away from the affected area.

Advice
At present our correspondents advise that all ports in Israel are operating normally, but care needs to be taken as the situation can develop and change without notice.

Members should in any event exercise due caution and stay in close contact with local shipping agents over potentially rapid changes to local situations.

Any decision on shore leave should be undertaken after a prudent risk assessment, always based on latest available information. In case of urgent situations, immediate recourse to local correspondents is recommended.
