Warning of Wet Nickel Ore Cargo in Bulk From Surigao Philippines
Further to club industry news item of 7 October relating to potential problems loading Nickel Ore in Surigao there have been a number of reports of wet nickel ore cargoes being presented for shipment.
The present situation is a cause for concern:
- It appears that much of the cargo cannot be loaded in compliance with the IMSBC code.
- Surveyors are under pressure from shippers not to reject barges.
- Cargoes that have been independently analysed have higher moisture contents than those declared on the shippers declaration.
